Over the years, I have worked extensively with intermediate, upper-intermediate, and advanced students.

I have developed tailored curricula and materials designed to help learners who wish to progress beyond the Sproochentest and deepen their understanding of Luxembourg and its people, achieving greater independence and fluency.

  • No, currently, the courses offered by ZONG.LU are not yet certified and are still awaiting approval from the Ministry of Education.

Therefore, at this time, my courses don’t qualify for reimbursements by the Ministry of Justice or for the Congé linguistique by the Ministry of Work, nor can they qualify for reimbursements retroactively if certifications are granted in the future.

I will share updates on any new developments in due course.

  • I am a motivating and friendly teacher who values your time—because your time matters. Online courses tend to be faster-paced, denser, and more intense than offline ones. That’s why my classes are carefully structured and engaging from start to finish.

With extensive experience in online teaching, I’ve explored and tested various tools to create an interactive and effective learning experience.

My materials are top-quality, the result of years of refining and practical testing. You’ll gain a solid foundation in vocabulary and grammar, combined with meaningful practice.

I bring a deep knowledge of languages: I began as a teacher of English and German as foreign languages, and my passion goes even further back. My university thesis specialised in the philosophy of language.

I welcome your questions—and am never afraid to dive deep. I’ll do all the research needed to provide clear, thorough answers tailored to you.

About the live classes

  • Live classes take place via a videoconferencing platform such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet, and make use of a virtual whiteboard for interaction.

Each class lasts 60 minutes and focuses on active practice. To get the most out of each session, preparation is key.

At levels A1 and A2, the language of instruction is English. At higher levels, the main language of instruction is Luxembourgish.

Before every lesson, you'll receive preparation materials—this may include a PDF, Quizlet vocabulary flashcards, or other supplementary resources. The more you prepare, the more you'll benefit from the live classes.

That said, if you happen to be unprepared for one lessondon’t worry! I’ll explain everything clearly in our live class and make sure you still get plenty of practice during the session.

  • Unlike many other platforms, ZONG.LU is a one-man show—there are no other instructors. All courses are taught personally by me, Ashwin.

I bring over a decade of teaching experience, and in early 2025, I completed the INLL’s Luxembourgish teacher training, earning the certificate with the distinction EXCELLENT.

My teaching style is the result of years of hands-on experience, continuous learning, and a deep passion for language.

  • Ideally, you prepare for the live classes, especially if you signed up for a group course!

So, before you sign up, make sure you have planned enough time for self-study. A live class is a great addition, but if you want to achieve the course objectives, you will need to prepare your classes and do your homework.

  • For group courses, if you miss a session, I'm not able to offer a refund or reschedule it.

For 1:1 lessons, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance if you need to reschedule.

If you cancel too late or don’t show up, the lesson can’t be refunded or moved.

  • No. Strictly speaking, you don't need to buy a Luxembourgish course book. However, it is strongly recommended to have additional resources to support your learning.

The Schwätzt Dir Lëtzebuergesch? series, published by the INLL, is probably the best available Luxembourgish course material on the market. You can find it in the language section of any well-stocked bookshop in Luxembourg. While my own preparation materials often go deeper and cover a wider range of topics, the book provides valuable additional practice. I may occasionally refer to it when assigning homework or suggesting extra resources.

About the teacher

  • Yes, I am a certified teacher.

In 2025, I completed the INLL Luxembourgish teacher’s training Zertifikat Lëtzebuergesch Léiere Léieren (ZLLL) and received the certificate with the distinction “Excellent”.

  • Besides English, French and German. I am fluent in Italian and Spanish, and I also have basic knowledge of Russian.

As a child, I grew up surrounded by two, sometimes three languages, one of which was Luxembourgish. But my true passion for language learning didn’t emerge until university, when I had to study Latin as part of my Bachelor's in Philosophy.

Since then, I’ve never stopped learning. I continue to explore new languages and approaches to better understand the student’s perspective.

  • No, Ashwin is actually not a Luxembourgish name—it’s an Indian name!

My father is Luxembourgish, and my mother is Indian. I grew up bilingual, with English and Luxembourgish as my first two languages, and I also picked up some Tamil words along the way.
