About
Moien! I'm Ashwin Schumann, a native Luxembourger and a certified Luxembourgish teacher with a passion for languages and teaching.
Since 2017, I’ve been guiding learners through Luxembourgish courses—whether it’s preparing for the Sproochentest or building confident Luxembourgish conversation skills.
I originally started out as a teacher of English and German, but over time, Luxembourgish became my main focus—and my greatest joy as a teacher.
I’m a proactive and supportive teacher who loves teaching and finding smart, creative ways to make learning Luxembourgish enjoyable and rewarding. Whether it’s answering tricky grammar questions or sharing insights into Luxembourgish culture, I’m always happy to help—and always learning alongside my students.
In addition to Luxembourgish, English, German and French, I am a fluent and proficient speaker of Italian (C1), have conversational Spanish (B2), and have also studied Catalan (A2). My own language journey has helped me support learners with empathy, structure, and insight into how to succeed—especially in speaking and preparing for exams like the Sproochentest.
In April 2025, I earned the official INLL certificate for teaching Luxembourgish with the distinction “Excellent”.
I also hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Philosophy, with a special focus on the philosophy of language.
Methodology
These are live classes held via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. I, Ashwin, am your only teacher — no outsourcing, no surprises.
Each course includes well-structured, comprehensive, and learner-friendly preparation material. The content is largely based on the curriculum developed by the INLL, ensuring consistency and pedagogical quality.
Every lesson is supported by thoughtfully designed resources, including:
Audio-visual flashcards to build vocabulary
PDF materials covering grammar explanations, vocabulary lists, and targeted exercises
The online live classes are accompanied by engaging presentation slides and are designed to give you plenty of speaking practice. You'll work through a mix of semi-structured dialogues and open-ended speaking tasks.
All courses are built with one goal in mind:
To help you become fluent, confident, and linguistically sensitive in Luxembourgish.
